One of my favorite exercises I utilize for reflection is to list things for which I'm grateful. When I keep up this practice I found myself to be better grounded, more gracious and aware of the little gifts that come into my life on a daily basis. Some days this is not an easy task and the list whittles down to a roof over my head, loving family/friends and the cats. My bare bones for security. But somedays the most ordinary moments stand up to be counted. It's these times that the abundance of love and grace in my life shines through with brillant clarity. My practice of keeping the list mines more of these moments as I continue to practice. Recently, I've been tossing over ideas to keep myself engaged and commited to maintaining this space. One of my ideas was to bring this practice out into this space in a weekly post. To keep mindful and aware. One caveat is not everything I'm grateful for in a week will make it here. Just some random highlights from my daily travels.
SNAPSHOTS OF GRACE 4th week Sept
> Family. A large dose of Family time and love received on my trip to Pittsburgh.
> Health. That little Em was ok from the fall. Aunt D is healing from surgery. Uncle P is gearing up for surgery. For all the best in a bad situation news we've received. Reminder that life is precious.
> Friends. For the ones I've been blessed to know and love for decades now. And time visiting them. And for the ones who are active participants in my day to day life. I'm lucky and better for having each of you in my life.
> Beets. To be fleshed out in an upcoming post.
> Laughter. Here's a written invitation for you to make your presence known with greater frequency.
> Great food. Fat Head's wings, Lola's anything!, Oktoberfest brews, cookie tables at SW PA weddings, pierogies with their own grocery aisle overhead signage, and Starbucks Coffee went a bit of my adult home is needed.
> Kids. Their candor. And their capacity for love and play.
> Travel. This week it brought me to my roots and family. A wedding, a road trip with dad, one-on-one time with each niece, happiness, rest and culinary adventure.
> And finally Navi aka the Garmin GPS unit. Would have been lost without you this past week. Happy Wednesday!
