It's less than 1 week till the first Seattle LiveStrong Challenge. As you my know my sweet, big hearted, quick-witted, courageous soul-mate and husband Chuck passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer two years ago. This Sunday - Father's Day morning, I will be joined by my sister Heather, brother-in-law Mike, lovely nieces and friend Alley as we walk in Chuck's memory.
Lance Armstrong is fond of saying "Cancer may leave your body, but it never leaves your life." Truer words have never been spoken. The landscape of my life has been profoundly and irreparably changed by cancer. I am a survivor and I will continue to fight so maybe someday other wives, mothers, husbands, fathers, children, siblings, friends will be spared witnessing the devastation of their loved one's body and spirit. And if they are called into this battle the support will be there for them through LiveStrong in the research they helped fund, government support they fought for, and the honest, clear information they provide to all facing cancer. Here is a beautiful and touching video from the LiveStrong Foundation describing their manifesto. Chuck & I first heard these words from Lance Armstrong as he kicked off the 2006 LiveStrong Challenge in Portland where Chuck rode 40 miles. It brings me to tears each and every time, inspires me to fight on and believe that someday we will gain ground in the battle.
So I leave you my family, friends and dear readers with a request for a donation - no matter how big or small. All contributions are deeply appreciated. So far TEAM CHUCK has raised $1785.00.Thank you for all your continued support!
Live Strong!!!
