Upcoming Plant Sales

This weekend, May 3rd and 4th, are two big plant sales: the Seattle Tilth plant sale at Meridian Park and the Master Gardener Foundation sale at the Center for Urban Horticulture. 

 Both sales will have lots of warm season plants like tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, basil. It's still way to cold especially at night to plant those without some kind of protection. It's probably too cold for basil in any case. You can get those Wall 'o Water devices, make a plastic tunnel or cloche, or even just wrap a tomato cage with plastic and stick a couple of full bottles of water inside. 

Food Bank Delivery

Hello FB gardeners--thanks for all your help!

Please have any produce donations harvested Thursday eve or Friday before the 9:30 am delivery time for this Friday May 2nd first delivery. It's early and  the rainy March has put us a  behind this year, so there probably will be a small amount to donate this first time. Put harvested items in the Food Bank end of the shed. They should be relatively clean and bagged. Instructions are posted. Drivers do all the weighing and recording.

 

Put produce from the FB gardens on right side and any from your own P-Patch garden or from home garden on the left side in white baskets labeled "Own Garden"

 

The Friday deliveries go the Lake City Food Bank that is a newer building  south of the Lake City Fred Myer.

 

Monday deliveries: produce should be in shed Sunday eve or Monday by 9:30 am.  This produce is delivered to our local transitional and subsidized housing at Magnuson Park--located at the South end of the park and near Sand Point Way.
