Time for a training update. Funny how adding online dating and lots of written communications has diminished my time here. Pies and events are in need of recording! Started shell posts along the way. Just need to catch up!
June's Training Accomplishments:
- Total miles = 40.5 miles
- Fastest mile = 13:36 minute
- Average miles = 15.5 minute mile
- Increased average run of 2.5 miles to 4 miles
July - November starts the 1/2 marathon training in earnest. Many more miles are needed. Steady increase in distance over time a must. Nice to have would be a steady increase in speed. Rome wasn't built in a day!
Things I've learned this month:
- Running on concrete is a bad plan. Avoid it when possible - only time my joints, especially my hips hurt.
- The distances and duration are now at the point that planning nutrition before, after and during the run is a necessity.
- Switched over to a 3 min run/1.15 min walk intervals. And my time is still improving. Reduces the risk of overall injury and my game plan for the long haul.
- No matter how many times I do this - the first few runnning intervals are always like lifting cement shoes. It gets better as I go.
- The run to Matthews Beach 3.1 miles is the new normal as opposed to the end goal.
- While the scale has not moved, my waist curve has decided to make an appearance. WOOT!
- My face and neckline as slimming up and showing more definition.
- My legs rock! To be honest though, they've always been my best feature.
- Love the way I feel when I'm done. Spent, happy and accomplished with a clearer head and heart.
